Launched on the Play Store in April last year, Boom Player aims to deliver the best African and International music while also building a sustainable digital music ecosystem for African artists.
It contains unlimited music from popular African artists, as well as fresh and budding talent, which can be streamed or downloaded by users. It also let users stream or download music videos, behind the scenes, and exclusive interviews from their favourite artists on the app.
Early this year, the app clocked more than 1 million downloads on the Google Play Store. TECNO later announced new features will be launched this month to take the app to the next level; more installs and more daily active users (DAUs).
The features have now been announced. The app will now be known as Boomplay and includes new features to wow music lovers across the country and beyond.
Boomplay now has a sleek user interface, which makes music discovery a lot easier and the app even more user friendly, and a ‘Buzz’ section where users can stay in touch with happenings in the world of entertainment.
The biggest feature is the ability for users to follow each other, including celebrities, in order to know, listen and download other users’ playlists. This effectively makes Boomplay the first music in this parts to have a social feature.
“It became more and more important for us to create a more beautiful app with a global standard as our user base grew. We recently celebrated a milestone of reaching over 1 million installations in Google Play store and we wanted to give music lovers a more personal feel while ensuring all user complaints and requests are adequately attended to and implemented in the new version. We listened and made it happen and we are very glad the feedback has been awesome so far,” said Oye Akideinde, General Manager of Operations, Boomplay.
