Applications are currently being accepted for the fifth edition of The S Factory, a Chilean female-only pre-acceleration program which provides selected startups equity free funding and 4 months of acceleration.
Launched in 2015 by the Government of Chile and Start Up Chile, the program is aimed at supporting first time female entrepreneurs in building high impact startups.
Two African startups were selected for the fourth edition of the program last year. Previous editions before that have seen female founders from Nigeria, including 500Apprentices (now Beavly) and Content on Demand (now Skrife), and across Africa selected.
This edition is open to female founders, as usual, across the globe with the selected startups getting a one-year working visa to Chile to develop their ideas and prototypes.
The startups will receive $10 million Chilean pesos (around US$14,000) equity free funds and participate in the 4 months pre-acceleration program.
During the program, the female founders will take courses, receive mentorship and pitch training to accelerate their ideas, and also help in the social impact of entrepreneurship by sharing experiences and knowledge with other startups.
The program ends with an Investor Lab, a pre-Demo Day event where founders present their financial projections and future plans to a group of real investors, and a Demo Day, where the founders pitch their startups to leading angel investors and accelerators for further funding.
If you’re interested in the program, apply by March 28, 2017. About 20 – 30 startups will be selected to participate in the program.
