Tanzanian startup, EcoAct has been named winner of the 2017 AFIF Entrepreneurship Award, carting away a cash prize and getting one year of national and international media promotion.
The award, organized by the Africa Finance & Investment Forum (AFIF) and supported by the Rabobank Foundation, aims to provide African-based innovative SMEs support to grow their businesses.
Following calls for applications, six SMEs were selected for the finals of the event, with EcoAct named winner during the 2017 Africa Finance & Investment Forum (AFIF) 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya.
A social enterprise, EcoAct addresses the challenges of urban waste management, plastic pollution, deforestation and climate change. It recycles and transforms consumer plastic waste into durable and environmentally friendly plastic lumber.
Christian Mwijage, Managing Director of the startup, received a cash prize as well as a one-year media and social media promotion.
