The Dutch Postcode Lottery has opened applications for the 2017 Postcode Lottery Green Challenge which will see the winner cart away about US$531,275 (€500,000) to further develop their service or product.
Now in its 11th year, the challenge is aimed at innovative entrepreneur with a sustainable business plan that contributes to an eco-friendly lifestyle and reduces greenhouse-gas emissions.
Following the applications phase in June, 25 startups will be selected for the semi-final stage of the competition, with 5 eventually making ot to the finals.
The finalists will be invited to the grand final in Amsterdam, Netherlands this September to present their business plan in front of a selected audience and an international panel of experts.
The winner will win about US$530k and receive expert coaching and help in bringing their idea to market within two year. The runner-up will receive US$212,510 (€200,000).
The challenge is open to green startups across the world. African startups interested in the challenge can apply here by 1 June 2017. Semi-finalists will be unveiled in mid-July and the finalists mid-August.
