Microsoft announced the expansion on February 2, 2017 at the NexTech Africa Conference, which brought together great minds together to engage, empower and inspire, in Nairobi, Kenya.
A part of Windows Insiders, a global community of over 7 million Windows users who are using technology to make a lasting impact on the world, #Insiders4Good supports entrepreneurs by providing them the necessary tools to bring their ideas to life and impact the lives of others.
25 entrepreneurs will be selected to join the East Africa #Insiders4Good Fellowship, which will run for 6-month and provide participants a premier suite of Windows hardware and software.
The program will also include tailored technical and strategic mentorship from local and international leaders to help take the participants’ unique ideas to the next level.
“Thousands in East Africa are creating extraordinary solutions that change the way communities and businesses solve problems and improve people’s lives,” said Bambo Sofola, Microsoft Director of Software Engineering.
He added, “…we see East Africa as a key region where exciting new ideas are growing. We look forward to deepening our relationships with these exceptional entrepreneurs across East Africa and to supporting their goals with this Fellowship.”
The fellowship is open to entrepreneurs in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda who have early stage projects. They should apply by March 31, 2017.
The program will be kicked off by a special one-week learning event for Fellows and mentors.
