Nigerian Design Engineer Among the Selected Engineering Entrepreneurs into Enterprise Hub

The UK’s Royal Academy of Engineering has announced the selection of twelve engineering entrepreneurs into its Enterprise Hub, with Nigerian American design engineer, Oluwaseyi Sosanya making the cut.

Enterprise Hub is a national resource for the UK’s most promising engineering entrepreneurs. It is part of the Academy’s commitment to stimulate excellence and promote creativity and innovation in engineering.

The Hub provide participants a comprehensive support package, including funding to cover their salaries, equipment and travel as they develop their products and attract investment to grow their startups.

Since launch in 2013, the Hub’s alumnus have established 45 startups companies, generated 150 jobs and raised over £30 million in follow-on funding.

Sosanya’s intuitive 3D creation tool known as Gravity Sketch got him into this latest batch. The tool comprises of a pen and pad for sketching in real space through the use of augmented reality glasses.

Free from any screen, Gravity allows anyone to focus on developing their ideas in an intuitive way. It is “a simple and engaging tool that has the ambition to shape a new wave of 3D creation.”

Together with other Fellows, Sosanya will be housed in the Academy’s new Taylor Centre and matched to a dedicated mentor who can help him build Gravity Sketch into a successful commercial business.

Also, he’ll gain access to dedicated training and networking events hosted by the Academy, providing the opportunity to meet with collaborators and investors.

At the Royal Academy of Engineering, we want to make sure these brilliant entrepreneurs receive the support they need to translate their ideas into commercial success through products that can change lives,” said Ian Shott CBE FREng, Chair of the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Committee.
